Motateyama Station is nestled in the city of Ōtsu, Shiga Prefecture, Japan. It serves as a key stop on the Sakamoto Cable, a scenic funicular railway operated by the private Hieizan Railway. While the station once provided access to a nearby campground, that facility has since closed.

Station History
Motateyama Station first opened its doors in 1949. Interestingly, it was known by a different name, Motateyama Yuenchi eki, until 1974, reflecting its original purpose of serving a recreational area. Today, it remains an integral part of the Hieizan Railway network.
