Opened on December 1, 1934, Mishima Station has a rich history. Interestingly, the renowned Japanese writer Yukio Mishima adopted his pen name from this very station. His editors were passing through Mishima on their way to a meeting in Shuzenji when they conceived the name. The 'Yukio' part of his pen name was inspired by the snow (yuki) they observed on Mount Fuji from the train, adding a poetic touch to the station's legacy.
