Railway Lines

Ekimae Station serves as the western terminus of the Toyohashi Railroad Azumada Main Line, often referred to as the Toyotetsu City Line. This tram line, operated by Toyohashi Railroad, connects Ekimae to Akaiwaguchi and Undoukoen-mae, offering a charming and efficient way to navigate parts of Toyohashi. The line spans 5.4 km (3.4 mi) with 14 stations, operating on a 1,067 mm (3 ft 6 in) track gauge and electrified at 600 V DC.

Station History

The Azumada Main Line, which Ekimae Station is part of, officially opened on July 14, 1925. Over the decades, it has been a vital part of Toyohashi's public transportation system. The line saw its last extension on February 19, 1998, further enhancing its reach and connectivity within the city. While the current Ekimae Station is a bustling tram stop, it's worth noting that a different 'Ekimae Station' once existed in Nagoya, serving the Meitetsu Seto Line until its closure in 1976. This historical station in Nagoya was primarily for passenger transfers to the Chuo Main Line's Ozone Station.
