Location & Access
Unebi Station (畝傍駅) is situated in the city of Kashihara, Nara Prefecture, Japan. Despite its relatively low daily passenger count (504 in 2022) compared to other major stations in the city like Kintetsu Yamato-Yagi Station, Unebi Station is officially designated as Kashihara's representative station in timetables such as JTB's, primarily due to its proximity to the Kashihara City Hall. The station offers bicycle facilities, but no parking for cars.
While Unebi Station itself is unstaffed, it provides a crucial transfer point for travelers. Passengers can easily connect to Yagi-nishiguchi Station on the Kintetsu Kashihara Line, expanding their travel options within the region.
Railway Lines
The station is operated by West Japan Railway Company (JR West) and serves the Man-yō Mahoroba Line, which is part of the Sakurai Line. It features two side platforms and two tracks. Services include local trains from Kanahashi towards Wakayama and Ōji, and towards Nara via Kaguyama, as well as rapid services from Kanahashi towards JR Namba and Kaguyama.
Station History
Unebi Station has a long history, having been opened on May 23, 1893. Interestingly, it once served as the starting point for the Osasa Line (小房線), which was an old route of the Kintetsu Yoshino Line.
Travel Tips
For those visiting Kashihara City Hall, Unebi Station is the most convenient railway access point. Although unstaffed, its connection to the Kintetsu Kashihara Line via Yagi-nishiguchi Station makes it a practical hub for exploring the wider Nara Prefecture. Be sure to check train schedules in advance, especially for rapid services.
