This site includes eight properties inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List: the Buddhist temples Tōdai-ji, Kōfuku-ji, Gangō-ji, Yakushi-ji and Tōshōdai-ji, the Shinto shrine Kasuga-taisha, Heijō Palace and the Kasuga (Kasugayama) primeval forest.
