Railway Lines
Shōnan Station is served exclusively by the Saitama New Urban Transit Ina Line, also known as the New Shuttle (ニューシャトル). This unique system operates as a manually driven rubber-tyred people mover. The Ina Line stretches 12.7 kilometers (7.9 miles) from Ōmiya Station in Saitama to Uchijuku Station in Ina, running parallel to the Tohoku Shinkansen and Joetsu Shinkansen elevated high-speed lines. Shōnan Station is designated with the station number NS08 on this line.
Station History
The New Shuttle system, and consequently Shōnan Station, commenced operations on December 22, 1983. For over four decades, it has been a vital part of the local infrastructure, connecting communities and facilitating daily commutes. The line is double-tracked from Ōmiya Station to Maruyama Station, becoming single-tracked from Maruyama to Uchijuku Station.

As part of the New Shuttle, Shōnan Station offers a unique travel experience on a rubber-tyred automated guideway transit system. The line is operated by Saitama New Urban Transit Co., Ltd., a third-sector railway company with major shareholders including East Japan Railway Company and Tobu Railway.
