Station History
Sakuragichō Station boasts a rich history, originally opening on June 12, 1872, as the very first Yokohama Station when Japan's railway system was inaugurated. It held this name until 1915 when, due to the extension of the Tōkaidō Main Line, the name "Yokohama Station" was transferred to its current location. The station was then renamed Sakuragichō Station. Until January 30, 2004, the Tokyu Toyoko Line also served this station.
