Kobayashi Station is conveniently situated in Hosono, Kobayashi City, Miyazaki Prefecture, making it the central transportation hub for the city. Railway Lines
The station is operated by JR Kyushu and is an important stop on the Kitto Line. It is located 34.8 km from Miyakonojō and features one island platform with one track plus sidings. Notably, Kobayashi Station is the only staffed station along the Kitto Line, providing a staffed ticket window (outsourced) for passenger convenience. The preceding station is Nishi Kobayashi (towards Yoshimatsu), and the following station is Hirowara (towards Miyakonojō).
Station History
Kobayashi Station has a long history, having first opened its doors on October 1, 1912. It was originally known as Kobayashimachi Station until March 1, 1951, when it adopted its current name. The station underwent a significant rebuild in 2015, modernizing its facilities to better serve the community. In fiscal year 2016, the station recorded an average of 458 daily passengers, ranking 253rd among JR Kyushu stations.
