Location & Access
Kanahashi Station is conveniently situated in Kashihara, Nara Prefecture, making it an accessible point for exploring the region. While the station itself does not offer parking, bicycle facilities are available for those arriving on two wheels. For onward travel, connections to Nara Kotsu Bus Lines 40, 161, and the Tokkyu (Limited Express) at Kokudō-Magarikawa provide further reach into the surrounding areas.
Railway Lines
The station is an integral part of the JR-West commuter rail system, specifically serving the U Man-yō Mahoroba Line, which is also known as the Sakurai Line. It features a single side platform and one track. From Kanahashi, passengers can travel towards Wakayama and Ōji via Takada, or towards Nara via Unebi. The station also offers rapid service connections towards JR Namba.
Station History
Kanahashi Station has a rich history, having first opened its doors to passengers on April 21, 1913. Its name is derived from the former Kanahashi Village, which in turn traces its origins to the "Magari-Kanahashi Palace," the capital of Emperor Ankan. This historical connection adds a layer of cultural significance to the station. In fiscal year 2022, the station served an average of 577 daily passengers.
