Izumi-Sunagawa Station is conveniently located in Sennan, Osaka Prefecture, Japan. It serves as a vital transportation hub for residents and visitors to the area. Railway Lines
The station is situated on the Hanwa Line (JR-R48), a key commuter rail line. It is 40.5 km (25.2 miles) from Tennōji Station. Izumi-Sunagawa Station features two island platforms and four tracks, accommodating a range of services including Local, Regional Rapid Service (southbound only), Kishuji Rapid Service, Hineno Kishuji Rapid Service, Hineno Direct Rapid Service, Hineno Rapid Service, and the Limited Express Kuroshio. The preceding station is Shinge and the following station is Izumi-Tottori for most services, with Kii being the preceding station for some Hineno services.
Station History
Opened on June 16, 1930, Izumi-Sunagawa Station has a rich history of name changes, originally known as Shindachi until 1932, then Hanwa-Sunagawa until 1941, and Sunagawaen until 1944. It was historically a managed station for several others between Nagataki and Rokujizo. However, due to an organizational restructuring on June 1, 2025, Izumi-Sunagawa Station will become a managed station under the Izumi-Fuchu control station, with Kii and Rokujizo stations falling under the Wakayama control station.

As a staffed station with a Midori no Madoguchi (ticket office), travelers can easily purchase tickets and make reservations. With an average daily ridership of 4166 in FY2019, it's a moderately busy station. Its comprehensive service offerings make it a good starting point for exploring Sennan and connecting to other destinations along the Hanwa Line.
