Location & Access

Hōei Station was situated in the Misuhoe area of Shinhidaka, within the Hidaka District of Hokkaido, Japan. While the station is no longer operational, its former location offers a glimpse into the rural landscapes of Hokkaido's Hidaka region. Access to this area would typically involve local roads, as the railway line itself is now defunct.

Railway Lines

Hōei Station was an integral part of the Hidaka Main Line, a railway operated by the Hokkaido Railway Company (JR Hokkaido). It was located 109.8 km from the starting point of the Hidaka Main Line in Tomakomai. The line historically served the coastal communities of the Hidaka region, connecting them to larger urban centers.

Station History

Hōei Station first opened its doors to passengers on July 15, 1958, serving the local community for decades. However, its operational life was cut short due to unforeseen circumstances. Services on a significant 116 km section of the Hidaka Main Line, including Hōei Station, were indefinitely suspended from January 2015 following severe storm damage. Despite hopes for restoration, the station was formally closed on April 1, 2021, marking the end of its railway service.
