Handafutō Station (半田埠頭駅, はんだふとうえき) is situated in Handa, Aichi Prefecture, Japan. Specifically, it is located at Jūichigōchi, Handa. As a freight-only station, it does not offer passenger services, and public access is generally restricted to authorized personnel involved in freight operations.
Railway Lines
This station is the terminal point of the Kinuura Rinkai Railway Handa Line, a dedicated freight railway. The line, which is 3.4 km (2.1 miles) long, connects Handafutō with Higashi-Narawa Station, an interchange point with the JR Central Taketoyo Line. The Handa Line operates on a 1,067 mm (3 ft 6 in) track gauge and is not electrified, with an operating speed of 45 km/h (30 mph).
Station History
Handafutō Station commenced operations on November 15, 1975. Since its opening, it has played a crucial role in the industrial logistics of the Handa area, facilitating the transportation of goods to and from the Handa Wharf, which gives the station its name (Futō means 'wharf' in Japanese).
