Gumyōji Station is an underground metro station situated in Minami-ku, Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. It serves as a key transportation hub for the local area. Travelers should note that there are two stations named Gumyōji; this particular station is part of the Yokohama Municipal Subway system. The other Gumyōji Station, on the Keikyū Main Line, is located approximately 500 meters away, accessible via the vibrant Gumyōji Kannon Shopping Street.

The station is operated by the Yokohama Municipal Subway and is a stop on the Blue Line (Line 1), with the station code B12. It is positioned 15.4 km from the line's starting point at Shōnandai. The preceding station on the Blue Line is Kamiōoka (B11) towards Shōnandai, while the following station is Maita (B13) towards Azamino. In 2008, the station recorded an average daily ridership of 8,558 passengers.
Station History
Gumyōji Station opened on December 16, 1972. Interestingly, its location corresponds to the former Gumyōji tram stop of the Yokohama City Tram, which was abolished in 1968. This historical connection highlights the area's long-standing role in Yokohama's public transportation network. The station is also known as one of Japan's "hard-to-read" station names (難読駅).
