Station History

Gumyōji Station opened on December 16, 1972. Interestingly, its location corresponds to the former Gumyōji tram stop of the Yokohama City Tram, which was abolished in 1968. This historical connection highlights the area's long-standing role in Yokohama's public transportation network. The station is also known as one of Japan's "hard-to-read" station names (難読駅).
