Opened on March 14, 1985, Chōjagahama Shiosai Hamanasu Kōenmae Station gained early recognition for its remarkably long name. For a period, it held the distinction of being tied with Minamiaso Mizu-no-Umareru-Sato Hakusui-Kōgen Station for the longest train station name in Japan, each boasting 22 hiragana characters. Although it was surpassed in 2020 by Tōjiin Ritsumeikan University Station, it remains one of the longest station names in Japan and the longest in Eastern Japan, adding a unique charm to its identity.
