Cable-hachimangū-sanjō Station is nestled in Yawata, Kyoto Prefecture, Japan, at an elevation of 99.6 meters. This unique funicular station serves as the upper terminus of the Iwashimizu-Hachimangū Cable, offering convenient access to the revered Iwashimizu Hachimangū shrine. From here, passengers can reach Cable-hachimangū-guchi Station, which connects to the Keihan Main Line (Iwashimizu-Hachimangū Station), in approximately three minutes. Please note that a transfer requires exiting the ticket gates at the lower station.

Station History

Opened in 1955, Cable-hachimangū-sanjō Station has undergone a couple of name changes throughout its history. Initially known as Hachimangū Station until 1956, it was then referred to as Otokoyama-sanjō Station until October 2019, when it adopted its current name. The station was also a filming location for the TV Osaka and BS TV Tokyo drama "Keihan Ensen Monogatari ~ Kominka Minpaku Kizunaya e Yokoso".

Travel Tips

The station features two dead-end platforms flanking a single track. One platform is typically used for both boarding and alighting, while the other is reserved for alighting only during peak seasons to manage crowds efficiently. There are no ticket machines or gates at Cable-hachimangū-sanjō Station; passengers are required to pay their fare for the Cable Car upon alighting at Cable-hachimangū-guchi Station. This station is an essential gateway for visitors heading to the Iwashimizu Hachimangū shrine, offering a pleasant and quick journey up the mountain.
