Location & Access
Amami Station (NK73) is situated in Kawachinagano, Osaka Prefecture, Japan, and is operated by the Nankai Electric Railway. This station holds the distinction of being the southernmost station within Osaka Prefecture on the Koya Line. It is also notably distant from its southern neighbor, Kimitoge Station, with a 3.7 km gap, making it the longest inter-station distance on the Koya Line. The station serves as a convenient gateway to local attractions such as Mt. Iwawaki and the Amami Onsen hot springs, both popular spots in the Okukawachi area. A bus terminal is also available for further connections.
Railway Lines
The station is exclusively served by the Nankai Electric Railway's Koya Line. As the last station within Osaka Prefecture, some 1-Day tickets valid only within Osaka Prefecture can only be used up to Amami Station, similar to Kako Station. The station sees a modest daily ridership, with 335 passengers recorded in 2019.
Station History
Amami Station first opened its doors on March 11, 1915. It has been a part of the railway network since the line's single-track era, retaining its historical charm while continuing to serve the local community and visitors to the Okukawachi region.
