Megriva (メグリヴァ) is a culinary theatre for just ten guests, run entirely by its owner-chef, Yoshida-san. At his counter in Naka-Meguro, he transforms hyper-seasonal Japanese ingredients into inventive Italian dishes, creating a dining experience that is both intimate and highly exclusive. The restaurant operates on a referral basis, making it one of Tokyo's most difficult reservations to secure.

The menu is a showcase of creativity, but a few signatures have become legendary among regulars. The chilled capellini with sea urchin (uni) is consistently named as a standout dish you won't find elsewhere. Other frequently praised plates include omelettes finished in front of you with black truffle or porcini, a savoury lobster chawanmushi (a steamed egg custard), and pastas with punchy lemon-garlic-butter sauces. The wine program is also a highlight, with guests encouraged to order by the bottle to pair with the meal.

The main challenge is simply getting a seat, as the restaurant is effectively closed to new customers. Some diners have also found the chef's service style to be reserved or curt. First-time guests should be prepared for a long, leisurely meal of around three hours and an unusual ordering system where you select all your dishes at the very beginning.

Reviewers in 2024–2026 report dinner costs of ¥25,000 to ¥35,000 per person with wine. Specific dishes noted include the uni cold capellini for around ¥3,000 and a burrata with setoka citrus for about ¥2,400. For those who can secure an invitation and appreciate a wine-centric meal, megriva offers excellent value for its exceptional food quality.
