Station History

Zasshonokuma Station has a rich history, having been opened on April 12, 1924. Over the years, it has undergone several name changes. Initially known simply as Zasshonokuma until 1939, it was then called Kyutetsu Zasshonokuma until 1942, and subsequently Nishitetsu Zasshonokuma until 1971, before reverting to its current name. The station's name originates from the surrounding old place name, Zasshonokuma, which still exists in the neighboring city of Ōnojo.
