Location & Access
Yamanokuchi Station is situated in Yamanokuchi-cho Hanaki, Miyakonojō, Miyazaki Prefecture, Japan. Although it serves the city of Miyakonojō, it was historically the central station for the former Yamanokuchi Town. The station is unstaffed and features an at-grade structure with access to its single island platform via a footbridge, meaning it is not directly accessible for all travelers.

The station is operated by JR Kyushu and is an important stop on the Nippō Main Line. It is located 379.1 km from the line's origin at Kokura. Travelers can connect to Mochibaru in the direction of Kagoshima and Aoidake in the direction of Kokura from Yamanokuchi Station.
Station History
Yamanokuchi Station has a long history, having been opened on August 15, 1914. Over a century of service, it has played a role in connecting communities along the Nippō Main Line. In fiscal year 2016, the station served an average of 194 daily passengers.
