Station History
Opened on June 11, 1903, Yamanashishi Station has a rich history. Interestingly, it was known as Kusakabe Station until 1962. For a period until 2020, when Sanuki Station on the Jōban Line was renamed Ryūgasaki-shi Station, Yamanashishi Station held the unique distinction of being the only 'City Station' (市駅) operated by JR East, highlighting its significance to the city it serves.
