Wassamu Station is situated in the Kitamachi neighborhood of the town of Wassamu, within Kamikawa-gun, Hokkaidō, Japan. While it serves as a crucial point for local residents, it is currently an unattended station, meaning there are no staff present. Travelers should plan accordingly for ticket purchases or assistance.
Railway Lines
The station is an integral part of the Sōya Main Line, connecting passengers to various destinations. It is located 36.3 km from Asahikawa. The preceding station towards Wakkanai is Kembuchi, and the following station towards Asahikawa is Shiokari for local services and Pippu for some Limited Express Nayoro trains. Limited Express Sarobetsu and Sōya services also utilize this line, though some have different preceding/following stations.
Station History
Wassamu Station has a long history, having been opened on November 15, 1899. This makes it one of the older stations in the region, reflecting the early development of railway infrastructure in Hokkaido.
