Ueki Station is conveniently located in the Kita-ku ward of Kumamoto City, Kumamoto Prefecture. While it's an unstaffed station, it provides essential rail access for residents and visitors to the area. The station features platform access via a footbridge.

The station is primarily served by the JR Kyushu Kagoshima Main Line. It's situated 184.6 km from Mojikō, a significant junction on the line. Notably, Ueki Station acts as a terminal for several trains originating from or bound for Kumamoto, making it a key local hub. The preceding station towards Kagoshima is Nishisato, and towards Mojikō is Tabaruzaka.
Station History
Ueki Station has a long history, having opened its doors on July 1, 1891. An interesting historical note is that until 1965, the Yamaga Onsen Railway also operated services to this station, highlighting its past importance as a railway interchange. Today, it handles an average of 456 daily passengers (FY2022), ranking 205th among JR Kyushu stations.
