Station History

Ueki Station has a long history, having opened its doors on July 1, 1891. An interesting historical note is that until 1965, the Yamaga Onsen Railway also operated services to this station, highlighting its past importance as a railway interchange. Today, it handles an average of 456 daily passengers (FY2022), ranking 205th among JR Kyushu stations.
