Location & Access
Tsubaki Station is nestled in the town of Shirahama, within the Nishimuro District of Wakayama Prefecture, Japan. Operated by the West Japan Railway Company (JR West), it provides access to the scenic Kinokuni region. While it's considered a gateway to Tsubaki Onsen, the station itself is situated in a rather quiet and secluded area, a fair distance from the main hot spring town.

The station is served by the W Kisei Main Line, also known as the Kinokuni Line. It's located 267.3 km from Kameyama and 87.1 km from Shingū. Tsubaki Station features one side platform and one island platform, accommodating two tracks. Local services connect Tsubaki with Kii-Hiki towards Kushimoto and Shingū, and Kii-Tonda towards Kii-Tanabe and Wakayama.
Station History
Tsubaki Station first opened its doors on March 29, 1935, under the name Kii-Tsubaki. It operated under this name until 1965 when it was officially renamed Tsubaki Station. The line serving the station was electrified in 1978, enhancing its operational capabilities. Today, it operates as an unstaffed station, reflecting its tranquil location.
