Station History

Takarabe Station opened its doors on April 28, 1929, and underwent a rebuild in 2008. Historically, it held greater significance, with express trains like the "Osumi" making stops here. In 1980, the "Osumi" and "Kinkō" express services were downgraded to rapid trains, making Takarabe a rapid train stop. However, with the introduction of the "Kirishima" limited express, these services were abolished, and Takarabe reverted to serving only local trains.

Travel Tips

As an unstaffed station, travelers should plan to purchase tickets in advance or use IC cards. The available parking and bicycle facilities make it a good option for those exploring the Soo area by car or bike. While it no longer hosts express services, Takarabe Station remains a vital link for local residents along the scenic Nippō Main Line.
