Tagawa-Ita Station is conveniently situated in the city of Tagawa, Fukuoka Prefecture, making it a central point for local and regional travel. The station is jointly operated by the Kyushu Railway Company (JR Kyushu) and the third-sector railway operator Heisei Chikuhō Railway. Since April 1, 2009, the Heisei Chikuhō Railway portion of the station has been known as MrMax Tagawa-Ita Station, thanks to a naming rights acquisition by the discount shop chain MrMax.
