Location & Access
Shiwaguchi Station is situated in Ibara, Shiraki-chō, Asakita-ku, Hiroshima, Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan. Despite its name, which derives from the nearby Shiwa-chō, Higashihiroshima, there are no direct shuttle bus or other connections between the two locations. Travelers should be aware that this station should not be confused with other similarly named stations on the Geibi Line, such as Shimowachi, Shiomachi, and Shiwachi.
Railway Lines
The station is exclusively served by the JR West Geibi Line. While Shiwaguchi Station is designated as an express stop, the Miyoshi Liner service does not stop here. This is primarily due to the low number of passengers utilizing the station, highlighting its role as a more local access point rather than a major transit hub.
Station History
Shiwaguchi Station has a long history, having first opened its doors on April 28, 1915, making it over a century old. Operated by JR West, it has continuously served the local community, connecting residents to the broader railway network.
Travel Tips
When planning your journey, remember that while it's an express stop, the Miyoshi Liner bypasses Shiwaguchi. If you're heading to or from the Shiwa-chō area, be prepared for alternative transportation as there are no direct connections from this station. Always double-check your destination to avoid confusion with other Geibi Line stations with similar-sounding names.
