Station History
Shinano-Tokiwa Station has a history stretching back over a century, having first opened its doors on November 2, 1915, under the name Tokiwa Station. It was later renamed Shinano-Tokiwa Station in 1937, adopting the 'Shinano' prefix which is common for stations in Nagano Prefecture to distinguish them from other stations with similar names. While currently unstaffed, it served a significant number of passengers in FY2011, with an average of 245 daily users.
