Shin-Tamana Station is situated in Tamana, Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan. It is a Shinkansen-only station, located approximately 4 km northeast of Tamana Station, which serves as the main station for Tamana City on the Kagoshima Main Line. Travelers wishing to transfer between Shin-Tamana Station and Tamana Station will need to use a taxi or bus. Notably, selective boarding (選択乗車) is possible between the two stations, offering some flexibility for passengers.

Railway Lines

The station is exclusively served by the Kyushu Shinkansen line, operated by the Kyushu Railway Company (JR Kyushu). It features two side platforms and two tracks, with an elevated structure. From Shin-Tamana, passengers can travel towards Kumamoto and Kagoshima-Chūō to the south, or towards Shin-Ōmuta and Hakata to the north, utilizing the Sakura and Tsubame services.

Station History

Shin-Tamana Station officially opened its doors to the public on March 12, 2011, as part of the Kyushu Shinkansen line's expansion. Its establishment provided high-speed rail access to the Tamana area, connecting it more efficiently with major cities across Kyushu.
