Location & Access

Shin-Kotoni Station (G05) is conveniently located in Kita-ku, Sapporo, Hokkaido. While it offers good connectivity within the JR Hokkaido network, it's important to note that despite its relative proximity to Asabu Station on the Sapporo Municipal Subway's Namboku Line, there are no direct transfer passageways between the two stations. Travelers wishing to transfer between these lines will need to exit one station and enter the other.

Railway Lines

The station is a vital stop on the Sasshō Line, also known as the Gakuen Toshi Line, operated by the Hokkaido Railway Company (JR Hokkaido). It is situated 5.6 km (3.5 mi) from Sōen Station. The section of the Sasshō Line from Sōen Station to Shin-Kotoni Station is elevated, transitioning to ground level from the next station, Taihei, all the way to the line's terminus at Hokkaidō-Iryōdaigaku Station.

Station History

Shin-Kotoni Station first opened its doors on November 20, 1934, making it a station with a rich history spanning over 90 years. In its earlier days, it was also served by the Shin-Kotoni-ekimae Tram Stop of the Sapporo City Tram's Tetsuho Line, highlighting its historical significance as a multi-modal transport hub. The station has been staffed since its opening and continues to serve a significant number of daily passengers, with an average of 3,738 daily users recorded in fiscal year 2014.
