Railway Lines
As a significant junction station, Shin-Iizuka connects two vital railway lines: the Chikuhō Main Line and the Gotōji Line. The Chikuhō Main Line, also known by its popular nickname "Fukuhoku Yutaka Line," runs through the station, with Shin-Iizuka designated as station code JC14. The Gotōji Line, with station code JJ01, terminates here, although for operational purposes, trains arriving at Shin-Iizuka are considered 'up' trains, and those departing are 'down' trains. The station features one side platform and one island platform, accommodating three tracks.
Station History
Shin-Iizuka Station has a long history, having first opened its doors on June 15, 1902. It was originally known as Yoshio Station until 1935 when it adopted its current name. Today, it is a staffed station, offering services like the Midori no Madoguchi (a ticket office with staff assistance), and serves a considerable number of passengers, ranking 54th among JR Kyushu stations in 2020 with 2994 daily users.
