Station History
Shimo-Yamato Station has an interesting origin story. It was opened on July 20, 1986, specifically at the request of local residents. This request arose during the construction of the Meinohama Vehicle Depot by the Fukuoka City Transportation Bureau in the Shimo-Yamato area. Instead of building a station at the depot itself, Fukuoka City funded the construction of Shimo-Yamato Station on the adjacent Chikuhi Line to meet the community's needs. The station underwent reconstruction on March 13, 2010.
