Location & Access

Railway Lines

Shikijiki Station was a part of the Sankō Line, operated by West Japan Railway Company (JR West). The Sankō Line, known for its scenic route through the Chūgoku region, connected Miyoshi Station in Hiroshima Prefecture with Gōtsu Station in Shimane Prefecture. The station served as the original terminus for the Miyoshi-side section of the Sankō Line when it first opened as the Sankō Minami Line.

Station History

Opened in 1955, Shikijiki Station served the local community for over six decades. However, due to declining ridership and increasing operational costs, the entire Sankō Line, including Shikijiki Station, was officially closed on April 1, 2018. This closure marked the end of an era for many rural stations along the line, transforming them into historical landmarks rather than active transportation hubs.
