Station History
Shibutami Station officially opened its doors on December 1, 1950, and has since been an integral part of the local railway network. Since 2019, it has carried the副駅名 (fuku-ekimei, or secondary station name) of "Takuboku no Furusato" (啄木のふるさと), meaning "Takuboku's Hometown," honoring the famous poet Takuboku Ishikawa who had strong ties to the area.
