Location & Access
Sawadani Station (沢谷駅, Sawadani-eki) was situated in the scenic Misato area, within the Ōchi District of Shimane Prefecture, Japan. While the station itself is now closed, its former location offers a glimpse into the rural charm of this region. For those interested in exploring the area, local bus services were connected to the station, providing a means of transport to and from the surrounding communities.
Railway Lines
The station was an integral part of the Sankō Line, operated by West Japan Railway Company (JR West). The Sankō Line was known for its picturesque routes through the Japanese countryside, connecting various towns and villages. Unfortunately, due to declining ridership, the entire Sankō Line, including Sawadani Station, ceased operations on April 1, 2018.
Station History
Sawadani Station first opened its doors to passengers in 1975, serving the local community for over four decades. It played a vital role in connecting residents of Misato to other parts of Shimane Prefecture. Its closure in 2018 marked the end of an era for this small but significant railway stop.
