Location & Access
Ozekiyama Station was situated in Miyoshi, a city within Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan. While the railway line is no longer operational, the area around the former station can still be explored. The coordinates 34°48′45″N 132°50′31″E pinpoint its exact former location, offering a glimpse into the rural landscapes of this part of Japan. Although train services have ceased, the area might still be accessible via local bus routes, as indicated by the presence of a bus stop connection during its operational years.
Railway Lines
The station exclusively served the Sankō Line, a railway line operated by West Japan Railway Company (JR West). The Sankō Line was known for traversing scenic, less-traveled regions of Japan, connecting various communities. Unfortunately, due to declining ridership and increasing maintenance costs, the entire Sankō Line, including Ozekiyama Station, was permanently closed on March 31, 2018.
Station History
Ozekiyama Station first opened its doors to passengers in 1955, becoming a part of the local transportation network. For over six decades, it served the residents and visitors of Miyoshi, facilitating travel along the Sankō Line. Its closure in 2018 marked the end of an era for this station and the entire line, reflecting changes in regional transportation needs and infrastructure.
