Location & Access

Ōsawa Station is situated in the city of Yonezawa, Yamagata Prefecture, Japan. While it is officially part of the JR East network, it currently serves as a passing station, meaning trains no longer stop here. The station is located along the Itaya Pass section, with an uphill gradient extending from Ōsawa Station towards Tōge Station.

Railway Lines

The station is part of the Ōu Main Line, which is affectionately known as the Yamagata Line in this section. It is located 28.8 km from Fukushima Station. The preceding station on the Yamagata Line towards Fukushima is Tōge, and the following station towards Shinjō is Sekine.

Station History

Ōsawa Station first opened its doors on May 15, 1899. For many years, it served as a vital link for local communities. However, as of December 1, 2024, all trains now pass through Ōsawa Station without stopping, effectively making it a non-operational station for passenger services. It is an unstaffed station.

Travel Tips

Given that all trains currently pass through Ōsawa Station without stopping, it is not possible to board or alight here. Travelers wishing to explore the Yonezawa area should plan to use alternative stations on the Ōu Main Line, such as Tōge or Sekine, and arrange for local transportation from there.
