Location & Access
Oriwatari Station is situated in Yurihonjō, Akita Prefecture, Japan. Specifically, it can be found in Iwaki Kamikurokawa Aza Izumida. This unstaffed station offers a quiet and rural setting for travelers. Due to its remote location and limited services, it's advisable for visitors to plan their onward journey carefully, as local transportation options might be scarce.
Railway Lines
The station is an integral part of the Uetsu Main Line, operated by JR East. It is located 240.7 kilometers from Niitsu. Oriwatari Station features a single side platform, catering to both northbound and southbound trains. The preceding station on the line is Ugo-Iwaya (towards Niitsu), and the following station is Ugo-Kameda (towards Akita).
Station History
Oriwatari Station officially opened on April 1, 1987. Interestingly, it was one of several stations along the Uetsu Main Line, including Mega Station and Katsurane Station, that were upgraded from signal stops to full-fledged stations concurrently with the privatization of Japanese National Railways (JNR) and the establishment of JR East.
