Railway Lines
Operated by the West Japan Railway Company (JR West), Ōmoto Station is an integral part of two key railway lines: the Uno Line (JR-L02) and the Seto-Ōhashi Line (JR-M02). The Uno Line, also known as the 'Uno Minato Line', heads towards Uno, while the Seto-Ōhashi Line directly connects to the Honshi-Bisan Line, offering routes across the Great Seto Bridge. While Limited Express Uzushio does not stop here, Rapid Marine Liner and Local services are available.
Station History
Opened on June 12, 1910, Ōmoto Station was originally known as Shikada until 1925. Historically, it also served as the starting and terminal station for the Okayama Rinkō Railway and had a connecting line to the Okayama Shunting Yard (now Okayama Freight Terminal Station). However, these connections were abolished in 1984, marking a shift in the station's operational focus.
Travel Tips
As a staffed station with a 'Midori no Madoguchi' (ticket office), Ōmoto Station offers assistance for ticket purchases and travel inquiries. With two side platforms and two tracks, it efficiently handles daily passenger traffic, which averaged 1837 daily passengers in FY2019. Its strategic location and connections make it an excellent starting point for exploring Okayama City and beyond.
