Ōmika Station is conveniently located in the southern part of Hitachi City, Ibaraki Prefecture. As a key transportation hub in the area, it provides essential access for residents and visitors alike. Railway Lines
The primary service at Ōmika Station is the Jōban Line, connecting it to major destinations like Shinagawa and Sendai. Notably, the section between Ōmika and Tōkai Station is the longest distance between stations on the Jōban Line within Ibaraki Prefecture. While it once served as a junction for the Hitachi Electric Railway Line, that line was discontinued in 2005, leaving the Jōban Line as the sole service.
Station History
Ōmika Station has a long history, having first opened its doors on February 25, 1897. For many years, it was an important interchange, connecting the Jōban Line with the Hitachi Electric Railway Line, which branched towards Jōhoku-Ōta and Ayukawa. The closure of the Hitachi Electric Railway Line on April 1, 2005, marked a significant change, transforming Ōmika into a single-line station.

As a staffed station with a Midori no Madoguchi (ticket office), Ōmika Station offers convenient services for purchasing tickets and making reservations. With an average daily ridership of over 7,500 in FY2021, it's a moderately busy station.
