Station History

Okaba Station first opened its doors on December 28, 1928. Interestingly, when the station was relocated, the city of Kobe requested a name change to "Hokushin Chuo Station" or "Fujiwara-dai Station." However, due to opposition from local residents, the name remained Okaba Station. Perhaps as a nod to this history, the station name board includes "Fujiwara-dai" as a sub-station name. In fiscal year 2019, the station served 9,396 passengers.
