Location & Access
Nagatoro Station (長瀞駅) is conveniently located in the town of Nagatoro, Saitama Prefecture, Japan. As one of the first stations selected for the '100 Stations of Kanto' list, it boasts a prominent tourist information center, the 'Nagatoro Town Tourist Information Center,' right in front of the station, making it an ideal starting point for exploring the area. A station-front street leads towards Mount Hodo and Hodosan Shrine, while a shopping street on the opposite side of the ticket gate, across the Chichibu Line tracks, provides direct access to the stunning Nagatoro Gorge (Iwatatami).
Railway Lines
The station is operated by the private railway operator Chichibu Railway and serves the Chichibu Main Line (CR24). It is situated 46.5 km from Hanyū, with Minano (CR27) as the preceding station towards Mitsumineguchi and Nogami (CR23) towards Hanyū. Nagatoro Station features one side platform and one island platform, accommodating three tracks. It is also a stop for the scenic SL Paleo Express and the Rapid Chichibuji services.
Station History
Nagatoro Station first opened its doors on September 14, 1911, initially under the name Hodosan Station, which it held until 1923. Its long history and strategic location have cemented its role as a vital transportation hub for the Nagatoro area.
Travel Tips
With an average daily ridership of 1,320 in FY2018, Nagatoro Station is a popular destination. Visitors should note that while the station is named Nagatoro, the town hall and other municipal offices are actually closer to the neighboring Nogami Station, as Nagatoro Town was formerly known as Nogami Town.
