Mori-Miyanohara Station (Mori-Miyanohara-eki) is situated in Hokushin, within the village of Sakae, Shimominochi District, Nagano Prefecture, Japan. This station holds the distinction of being the northernmost railway station in Nagano Prefecture, positioned very close to the border with Niigata Prefecture. Its elevation is 289.9 meters (951 feet) above sea level.
Railway Lines
The station is served by the Iiyama Line, operated by East Japan Railway Company (JR East). It is located 49.7 kilometers (30.9 miles) from the starting point of the line at Toyono. The station features one island platform serving two tracks. The preceding station on the Iiyama Line towards Nagano is Yokokura, while the following station towards Echigo-Kawaguchi is Ashidaki.
Station History
Mori-Miyanohara Station officially opened its doors to passengers on November 19, 1925. A significant administrative change occurred on April 1, 2010, when the branch office jurisdiction was revised. As a result, Mori-Miyanohara Station became the easternmost point of the Nagano Branch Office's jurisdiction, with areas further east falling under the Niigata Branch Office.
