Miyakoizumi Station officially opened on October 1, 1991. Interestingly, the name "Miyako" is an ancient name for Yukuhashi. On April 1, 2009, Okano Valve Mfg., an industrial valve manufacturer with a nearby factory, acquired the naming rights. As a result, the station is also known as Okano Valve-mae Miyakoizumi Station, reflecting this unique local partnership.
