Location & Access
Minato Motomachi Station is situated in Chūō-ku, Kobe, Hyōgo Prefecture, Japan, specifically at Sakaemachi-dori 4-chome. One of its most distinctive features is the western entrance (Exit 1), which ingeniously incorporates the exterior wall of the former First Bank Kobe Branch, a building completed in 1908 and designed by the renowned architect Tatsuno Kingo. This historical facade is beautifully illuminated at night, adding to the station's unique charm.
While the station's name suggests its central location within the Motomachi area, it's important to note that JR West and Hanshin Electric Railway's Motomachi Station is approximately 600 meters away. For transfers to that station, it's actually closer to use Kyukyoryuchi-Daimarumae Station.
Railway Lines
Minato Motomachi Station is an integral part of the Kobe Municipal Subway system, serving the Kaigan Line with the station code K03. It features a single island platform with two tracks, all located underground. The preceding station on the Kaigan Line is Harborland (towards Shin-Nagata), and the following station is Kyukyoryuchi-Daimarumae (towards Sannomiya-Hanadokeimae).
Station History
The station officially opened its doors on June 7, 2001. Its unique architectural integration of the historic First Bank building has earned it recognition as one of the "Top 100 Stations in Kinki" (Kinki no Eki Hyakusen) in the second selection.
