Station History
Minami-Sendai Station first opened its doors on September 10, 1924, originally under the name Rikuzen-Nakata. It was later renamed Minami-Sendai in 1963, reflecting its location south of Sendai. With a daily ridership of nearly 10,000 passengers in FY2018, it remains a busy and essential part of the local railway network. The station is staffed and includes a Midori no Madoguchi (ticket office).
