Minabe Station (南部駅, Minabe-eki) is conveniently located in the town of Minabe, within the Hidaka District of Wakayama Prefecture, Japan. It serves as the primary transportation hub for the town, making it easily accessible for both residents and visitors. The station is operated by West Japan Railway Company (JR West).
Railway Lines
The station is situated on the Kisei Main Line, also known as the Kinokuni Line. Many Limited Express 'Kuroshio' trains, primarily operating between Shin-Osaka and Shirahama, make a stop at Minabe Station, highlighting its importance on the line. During the plum blossom viewing season (観梅期), additional Limited Express trains may make temporary stops to accommodate the increased number of tourists.
Station History
Minabe Station first opened its doors to passengers on September 21, 1931. The line serving the station was electrified in 1978, enhancing its operational efficiency. While currently an unstaffed station, it played a significant role in the region's development. In fiscal year 2019, the station served an average of 709 daily passengers.
