The station is a directly managed station and, along with Yoake Station, is designated as a major transportation node on the Gunchū Line.

This 11.3 km (7.0 mi) railway line, owned by Iyotetsu, runs southwards from Matsuyama City Station, terminating at Gunchū Port Station. Station History
The Gunchū Line, which Masaki Station is part of, has a rich history dating back to its opening on July 4, 1896. Originally, the line was owned by the South Iyo Railway. However, in 1900, the South Iyo Railway merged with Iyotetsu, bringing the Gunchū Line under Iyotetsu's ownership, where it has remained ever since.
