Station History
Kure Station has a long history, having first opened on December 27, 1903. It has evolved significantly over the years, with the current station building and its integrated commercial complex opening in 1981. While it was previously a directly managed station with a stationmaster, as of June 1, 2024, it falls under the jurisdiction of Akitakata Station.
