Koza Station (古座駅, Koza-eki) is situated in the town of Kushimoto, within the Higashimuro District of Wakayama Prefecture, Japan. Operated by West Japan Railway Company (JR West), it serves as a vital transportation hub for the local community and visitors to the area. The station is specifically located in Nishimukai, Kushimoto.
Railway Lines
The station is part of the Kisei Main Line, also known as the Kinokuni Line, and is identified by the code W. It is positioned 215.0 km from Kameyama and 34.8 km from Shingū. Koza Station features one side platform and two tracks. Notably, all Limited Express 'Kuroshio' trains now stop at Koza, a change implemented with the timetable revision on March 12, 2011. Previously, some limited express services bypassed the station.
Station History
Koza Station officially opened on December 11, 1936. Before the merger with Kushimoto Town, the station was the principal station for the former Koza Town. The line was electrified in 1978. As of FY2019, the station recorded an average of 124 daily passengers. It is currently an unstaffed station.
