Kōnu Station officially opened its doors to passengers on November 15, 1935. A notable and rather unique fact about Kōnu Station is that, as of 2022, it is the only JR station in Japan whose name ends with the Japanese syllable 'nu'. In fiscal year 2019, the station recorded an average of 12 passengers daily.
